Completely Forgiven.....really, we are

1 John 1:9 says this "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"

Of all the words in this text, the word "all" stands out as the most vital. The blood of Christ covers all of our sins: Past, present and future. The text doesn't say "some" of our sins or even "most" of our sins. It says "all" of our sins. Can you imagine if the atoning work of Jesus on the cross was only powerful enough to cleanse us from a portion of our sins? That would leave salvation partially up to us.

I'm so thankful that the same God who created the heavens and the earth gave me a means of escape from eternal judgment and separation from Him. Without Christ's atoning work on the cross and subsequent resurrection three days later, we would be in a heap of trouble.....and on our way to hell.

Remember to thank Him today for who He is and what He did on the cross for you.

  1. What happens when a person who is not "predestined" confesses his sins to God? Will God not save him?

  3. Good question, sir. The answer may not be what most people would want to hear but....those who are not of the elect will not confess sins to God because of their spiritual blindness to begin with. A person cannot wilfully turn to the Lord on his own.....he or she must be prompted from an outside source (the Holy Spirit) to do this. This is why I believe regeneration comes before faith.

One of those pressing questions that none of us really has a final answer to, I suppose. That's all I can do with this from what the Lord has revealed to me over the years concerning this.

Thanks for your question.....I always appreciate them.
